Why is it SO important to contact me before looking at homes?
Here is an analogy that I like to use when talking to people about why it is so important to speak with me before they start looking at homes to buy.
A couple is getting ready for the wife’s high school reunion. She has lost the obligatory weight, got her hair done, nails done, and now wants to find the perfect dress. She has a budget in mind and she takes her significant other out to the dress shop. She finds the perfect dress, but it doesn’t have a price tag on it. She tries it on and loves how it looks on her. She goes out of the dressing room and shows it to her significant other. He says she has never looked better.
She then takes the dress up to the counter, and the salesperson informs her that it is twice as much as her budget. She is devastated. She knows that every other dress she says will be terrible compared to her dream dress.
The same is true about house shopping. What if the same couple went out and found their dream home? They then contacted me, and after we ran their finances, I had to tell them that they just couldn’t afford the house. Every other home they look at will be disappointing.
